Scott
was born and raised in the Northwest Territories, where his parents
instilled a love for the outdoors as well as a desire to help others
achieve an active, healthy lifestyle. Prior to pursuing a career in
healthcare, he completed an honours degree in Outdoor Recreation and a
bachelor’s degree in Biology from Lakehead University. He then returned
to the north and was employed in the diamond mining industry doing
environmental work.
In 2003, Scott moved to Alberta to begin his career as a Certified Athletic Therapist. During that time he has completed full-body certification in Active Release Techniques (ART)®,
having most recently completed the Spine course in October 2008.
Additionally he has completed certification in osteopathic Muscle
Energy Techniques for the entire spine and sacroiliac (SI)
joint. These two powerful techniques form the basis of his
treatment approach, combined with exercise prescription and physical
modalities such as ultrasound and interferential current.
In
his career as an athletic therapist, Scott has worked with a number of
sports teams including hockey, basketball and soccer. Since moving to
Canmore, he is pleased to have served as the team therapist for the Bow Valley Wolverines Football team
since 2007. Additionally he organizes the medical coverage for numerous
cross country ski races; most notably as the Chief of Medical Services
for the Alberta World Cup of Cross Country Skiing 2008 and 2010.
He is a member of the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA),
as well as the Alberta College of Paramedics as an Emergency Medical
Responder.
Scott's
